Visiting with friends

Yesterday I got to spend some time with a friend I hadn't actually really talked with in a year. It doesn't seem like that long has passed, but I guess it had. Odd how time just seemed to get away or get in the way of visiting. But yesterday I made the time and went to see her. It was great. I needed it probably as much as she did.LOL It did make me wonder why I kept putting off calling or dropping by. Seems like there was always something going on, but we all need to stop and take the time to spend with friends, more than just online. I'm the first to admit I make a terrible in person friend, if you are not my mom or hubby that is. Since my mom and hubby are my best friends, they are stuck with me :). But other friends, well I tend to be a homebody and somewhat of a hermit once I get here. And I take after hubby in not really wanting people at the house. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I'm not much of a housekeeper. I'll admit it, I'm lazy. IF ANYTHING can be done besides housework I do it. I'm getting better, but still.

Anyway visiting with her just made me realize that I have to be better at getting together with friends. I have friends I've made at my son's school, either parents of other students or teachers, who want to get together over the summer and if I don't make the effort I know I'll let the whole summer go by making excuses for not getting together. Once I'm out of the house I love to go, it's just the actually getting out of the house I have to make myself do.LOL Is there a word for a person like me? I love to travel and visit new places and to see friends, it's just the actually getting up and going to do it that I hate. And it's not really that I hate to do it, not really. I mean I get up and go on Saturdays with hubby, as long as it's not too early. I'm a nightowl still, always will be I guess. But I don't know. It's hard to explain. It's like once I'm here, I'm safe, the kids are safe, we have what we need, so why leave? I've said before and I'll say again, I still think living in the midst of 100acres with no neighbors would be awesome. As long as I can leave once a week for supplies and have access to the internet and all I'd be happy as a lark. Then there are times I just Have to get out.

So it's hard to explain why I let so much time go without calling friends or making a bigger effort to see them. I say "I'll do it next week" then next week I say "I'll do it in two weeks" and it just keeps going. Until I actually make a date and do it. Admittedly this time I was supposed to go last week, but I had a good reason then, I was sick big time! So that wasn't an excuse persay, as much as a true reason I couldn't go visit.

I just wonder if others are like me? Does having the internet make us all a little more of homebodies. I mean honestly you can have your groceries delivered after ordering them online. So you can get everything and anything without ever leaving your house. I have to wonder if this is good for us or bad?

I have made a personal vow to not let as much time go with following through with visiting. It was great fun. Maybe we can even set up a day when all the kids are in school to go out and eat, just us. Man that would be good and such a treat!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and takes the time to appreciate the friends in their lives.

Spring is here

Well it appears spring is here. At least for a while. It felt wonderful yesterday, even if we did stay in since my son said he felt sick and I had a sore throat. Then today it was cooler but still not bad. And tomorrow they say will be warmer,we'll see. I'm glad to see the warmer weather but still think we are in for a blast of cold before it's all done.

Today was a busy day for me. When I dropped off my son at school we took in an older DELL for his school to use, then took the HP we'd donated earlier and I set it up in one of the other teacher's rooms, while my baby girl played with the class. Then I was asked to look at the computer the Kindergarden class had. So I got it working, then went back and set up the one we'd donated for my son's class. That left one without a monitor for someone to use. And one monitor that was wonkie and needs to be replaced. I will hopefully think to get the one we have on the computer for the kids games to let them use for the next month or so. Since the school burned we've done all we can to help replace lost items. Much of which was donated by parents to start with.

A wonderful lady in NJ, a cyber friend's mom, donated 2 HUGE boxes of books that thrilled the teachers and students. And others have helped but today still ended up being busy for me. But I loved it.

Afterall I love this school and love to help then in any way I can.

Well it's about time for beddie by, the kids are down, hubby is about to go to bed and I'm tired too. Have a great day to all.

Enjoy the spring weather if you are getting it, if not it's coming. Just be patient.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl

Well my baby girl turned 3 today. We had a small treat as school for her and then a small get together at my inlaws as well. Tomorrow we go to my parents for a get together, since my mom can't travel. She's been so excited about it being her birthday.

Doesn't seem like it's been 3yr since I gave birth to her! It seems like only yesterday she was just entering this world. Now she's three and thinks she's grown. LOL They grow up so fast, I hate to think of the day they'll be too grown for my mothering. While at the same time I look forward to seeing who they become. They are such joys to watch. Today balloons releasing air outside thrilled them silly. They are so easy to please.

Everything is new and exciting and brings such joy. The moon coming out, the sun rising, the stars lighting, the wind blowing, anything and everything.

They bring joy to our lives. How easy it is in the day to day living of everyday to forget to savor those moments and to see the joy in their eyes. They are a true blessing and I thank God for the gift of them. How wonderful to be here to celebrate my baby's third year with her. I hope she knows just how much I adore her and love her. She's my angel girl.

Now it's time to get her down and to get ready for tomorrow's fun.

NASCAR collection

I recently got to read 2 of the NASCAR category line books. I read THUNDERSTRUCK by Roxanne St. Claire and SPEED DATING by Nancy Warren. And I got to read TO THE LIMIT by Pamela Britton. All three are excellent reads. I love that Britton's book kept me guessing until the very end as who would win the girl. It was as close as I can come to being in a race without being at the track. Loved that feeling. I loved the hero and heroine in her book and adored the secondary characters! It was a great read. There was a touch of mystery, great romance, sensuality without it being over done, and there were cameo appearances from previous characters, all within the world of a sport I love. Great reading experience. For a complete review please visit www.theromancereadersconnection.com

I loved Nancy Warren's story as well and the appearance of Carl Edwards within the book. The story was fast paced and fun. While a shorter story it still feels longer and left me completely happy. Although now eager for more from Ms. Warren and wishing the books came out sooner.LOL

Roxanne St. Claire's story was so good as well. It was one I eagerly read and couldn't wait to find out how it would end. The story itself was fresh and the characters were engaging and wonderfully written.

All three stories deal with the world of NASCAR but in no way are they the same. Each takes a different look at things. Britton's story is about a woman who always loved the racing world, but not NASCAR. She finds herself struggling with the interest of two men, the race car driver, Todd Peters and the team owner, Matthew Knight. While at the same time dealing with her own issues about racing. Roxanne St. Claire's story deals with a woman struggling to hold onto her family's racing team and the old ways while not being left behind by the newer larger complex racing teams. She doesn't want to change but sometimes you have to embrace changes to hold onto tradition. A great story about the past and future of NASCAR. While Ms. Warren's story deals with a woman who sees herself as boring. She finds herself going along as the "pretend" girlfriend to NASCAR driver Dylan Hargreave. Suddenly she's not acting like the person she knows or thinks herself to be. Can it be that in the world of racing she'll find her true self? It's a great story that is set in the world of racing without being only about racing.

Wonderful stories sure to please racing fans and any romance reader. I'm eager now to finish the other two stories in the Feb lineup and get the next books.

These are awesome stories written by exceptional authors! I'd suggest fans of both NASCAR and hot sexy heros go buy these books!
